Graduate Research Paper
Every Master of Theology (ThM) student at Dallas Theological Seminary is required to complete either a thesis or a graduate research paper. I wrote a graduate research paper on the use of the Greek words euangelion (good news, Gospel) and euangelizo (to proclaim good news) in the Greek Old Testament (the Septuagint). In an era when Greek was the lingua franca, the ancient Hebrew scriptures were translated into Greek (ca 3rd-1st century BC). How the linguists rendered the Hebrew terms and concepts would come to inform and even reshape the meaning of some Greek words. As Gospel is an important term in the New Testament, I sought to study what the its family of words meant to the New Testament writers by understanding them in their Bible, the Septuagint.
I won't give away my poignant discoveries--you will have to download the paper below--but I will share the feedback from the professor who graded it, the then Chairman of the Spiritual Formation & Leadership department:

Dude, you're RS102 paper was outstanding! Honestly, it was my favorite RS102 paper that I've ever read. You've furthered my own depth of understanding of the subject. I'd love to have an electronic copy for my files. I might even distribute it to future students if you're willing to give me your permission to do so.
Later he would go on to tell me in person that the paper gave him goosebumps, so I hope you too will find it encouraging and stretching.
